Chain of Issues Not Yet Fixed

Bicyclists, beware.

Regardless of experience level, those who ride bicycles should forever be cognizant of road and path conditions and avoid areas with routine issues.  In Evansville, Indiana, there is a section of passage known as Pigeon Creek Greenway, located under the Franklin Street bridge, where bicyclists have been injured in the past.  The most recent incident involves a skilled bike rider, who hit a mud patch and toppled to the ground.  She sustained a broken wrist, broken teeth, road rash, bruising, and bleeding.

Hospital Tries to Avoid Strike

We love our nurses!

During this past week, in response to a scheduled nurses strike, the University of Illinois Hospital (UIH) filed a lawsuit that would hopefully halt the strike. With nurses on the street instead of caring for patients, the hospital is concerned for the wellbeing and health of the public.  At the heart of the strike is the struggle and dispute over contract negotiations and staffing needs.  The Illinois Nurses Association supports the rights of over a thousand nurses currently employed by the University of Illinois Hospital.  Nurses affiliated with this organization were employed under a three-year-contract that just ended on August 24 but was extended for an additional two weeks.  The two parties have not come to an agreement in regard to updated contract terms.

Too Many Brainbusters

The match has ended

About fifty former wrestlers from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) have accused the organization of failing to provide adequate protection and safety to its wrestlers.  While they make the job look easy, wrestlers do experience complications and face injuries related to their sport.  One of the more frequent injuries associated with professional wrestling is the concussion. Although defined as a soft tissue injury, repeated concussions may leave lasting impacts on an individual’s brain and system function.  Throughout the course of a wrestler’s career, he or she may suffer from more than one concussion.  For this reason, the fifty former wrestlers filed a lawsuit against WWE.

An Unforgettable Sound is Fired

Fresh music

As one of the longest running shows on television, The Simpsons is known for its comedic approach to middle-class life, accompanied by an unforgettable animated cast. The series is recognizable by not only the voices of the characters but also the theme song and other compositions played throughout.  Viewers may thank lead composer, Alf Clausen, for his contribution to the series.  The Emmy-winner had worked for his employer since the second season started in 1990.  Unfortunately, Fox cut ties with Clausen in 2017, terminating his employment. Clausen, however, did not take his dismissal lightly and filed a discrimination lawsuit in August 2019.

Change Your Business Model

Save your coins!

During the pandemic, one of the concerns that may not have initially come to mind was coins.  Due to the potential fear of contamination and the risk of the virus, many people are opting to use only their credit cards and refuse to touch coins and paper money.  While consumers frantically purchase toilet paper for their households, owners of some establishments are pocketing change.  Chipotle is one such restaurant that is refraining from returning the proper change amount when their customers pay with cash.  The customers that have become victim to this misappropriation have banded together to file a class action lawsuit against Chipotle.
