Falsifying documents?

In the bootlegging era of the 1920’s, Atlantic City was known for its booming success and questionable corruption.  While AC has experienced an unfortunate decline since the pandemic, the tendencies to engage in unethical activities seem to have withstood the test of time. A former Ocean Casino Resort executive has filed a lawsuit, claiming she was terminated from her position in retaliation for acting as a whistleblower.  She had questioned the submission of paperwork to the New Jersey gaming division, defining it as falsified.  In response to her concern, the director of the state agency suggested that the executive be removed from her position. About fifty former wrestlers from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) have accused the organization of failing to provide adequate protection and safety to its wrestlers.  While they make the job look easy, wrestlers do experience complications and face injuries related to their sport.  One of the more frequent injuries associated with professional wrestling is the concussion. Although defined as a soft tissue injury, repeated concussions may leave lasting impacts on an individual’s brain and system function.  Throughout the course of a wrestler’s career, he or she may suffer from more than one concussion.  For this reason, the fifty former wrestlers filed a lawsuit against WWE. Airplane antics gone wrong

Traveling in an airplane is scary enough, without the thought of your flight crew spying on you. In a February 2017 flight, embarking from Pittsburgh to Phoenix, a Southwest Airlines flight attendant discovered an iPad in the cockpit.  The iPad was live streaming a video of the other pilot using the bathroom.  The flight attendant, Renee Steinaker, took out her personal cell phone to photograph the iPad, as a way of documenting the incident. Due to the unprofessional and intrusive nature of the streamed video, Steinaker reported the event to her superiors at Southwest.  Steinaker was not met with an ethical response, however, and was told to not reveal the contents of the video to anyone. Bending the rules?

We have not seen the last of Hope Solo. Since her termination from the US women’s soccer team in 2016, Solo has stirred up some legal excitement. Last August, the former goalie filed a lawsuit against the US Soccer Federation under the claims of gender discrimination. According to the lawsuit, team members of the men’s division are allegedly paid higher or on a different scale than the women’s team, providing less of an opportunity for the women to make as much money. Not Just Another Hot Coffee Lawsuit

Not just hot coffee this time…

In the past, whenever McDonald’s is involved in a lawsuit, we usually expect it to be because of another victim of their hot coffee. Not this time, “McDonald’s workers in three states filed lawsuits against the fast-food chain this week, saying the company engages in a variety of practices to avoid paying them what they’re owed”. The states involved are California, Michigan, and New York; lawyers targeted McDonald’s because it is an industry leader. The suit mentions a variety of labor violations, which could potentially affect 30,000 employees. The lawsuit seeks back pay and other damages for the affected parties. Read More
