Assault weapon and explosives found
Students at the University of Central Florida have evacuated the Tower 1 dorm after explosives and guns were found in a student’s dorm room. The student was found dead by a self inflicted gun shot. Students were moved to the UCF arena and await questioning.
Devastating statistics
The Department of the Army just released statistics for 2012 showing that there have been more deaths due to suicide over combat-related deaths. This year alone there has been 212 deaths because of combat, a number too high, but 303 deaths have been from suicide. The Department of the Army included the 303 suicides are from soldiers in active duty, Reserve, and the National Guard.
Justice
Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher (25) shot and killed his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins (22), during a domestic dispute on December 1st. He later turned the gun on himself after arriving at Arrowhead Stadium. Belcher’s mother, who witnessed the murder, called 9-1-1 shortly before 8 a.m. to have Perkins rushed to the hospital but the multiple gunshots ultimately proved to be fatal. The couple left behind a 3-month-old daughter.
Amanda Todd Witch Hunt?
Amanda Todd, a 15 year old from British Columbia, has taken her life due to years of torment from her peers and community. The young girl had made the mistake of flashing her breasts to a gentleman online during a slumber party. This man found her on Facebook and sent the pictures out to all her friends and classmates. She was chastised and bullied for her adolescent decision for years, even having to move more than once to escape the agony. Todd made a Youtube video reaching out for help, stating that she had once tried to take her life and that she needed someone to lend a hand. The authorities knew about the pictures and the school system knew of her suicidal threats, but then where were they when she actually decided to end it? The real important question is why is this disturbing gentleman, who took Todd’s intimate pictures viral, not locked up? I guess a number of people had the same question because the group Anonymous, an unlikely hero in certain aspects, outed the pervert’s name, address, and age.
