Michigan-based Ford Motor Company has been the subject of scrutiny and remains the popular defendant in more than a hundred lawsuits concerning the safety of the 2011-2016 Ford Fiesta and 2012-2016 Ford Focus. For the past six years, Fiesta and Focus owners grew concerned with consistent instances of jerking car movements and grinding noises. Some even lost power and control of their vehicles. College Politics Lead to Wrongful Termination Scandal
Three separate agreements were recently finalized in an ongoing lawsuit against College of DuPage, one of the college’s board representatives, and the former interim President of the college. Ohio Takes on the Drug Companies
The state of Ohio is looking to stifle the escalating number of prescription drug abuse related deaths within the state. Just last year alone, in only one county in the state, 666 residents died. Ohio is blaming the rising death count on the conglomerate of drug companies that downplay the dangers involved in consuming prescription drugs. The five drug companies at the center of the initiated lawsuit are Purdue Pharma, Endo Health Solutions, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries and subsidiary Cephalon, Johnson & Johnson and subsidiary Janssen Pharmaceuticals, and Allergan. Representatives for Ohio argue that they would not have invested a large portion of the state’s funding towards prescribed medication had they known the extremely addictive nature of the drugs the companies produce. Monsanto’s Weed-Killer Does Not Just Kill Weeds
Missouri-based agrochemical company, Monsanto, has for years marketed their Roundup weed-killer as both safe and non-toxic. Farmers have relied on the product to kill the harmful weeds that damage crops. Due to the genetically modified nature of the crops that farmers plant, the crops are immune to the potentially damaging ingredients of Roundup. While the crops have remained unaffected, the farmers or residents who live in farm communities have experienced deadly side effects. Read more
Young Entrepreneur Plays with Fyre
The ever-growing festival craze sparked the initiative of entrepreneur Billy McFarland to establish a new festival outside of the country, in the Bahamas. Other successful festivals remain grounded in the US, such as Coachella in Indio, CA, Firefly in Dover, DE, and Bonnaroo in Manchester, TN.
