The 5-year legal dispute between a former Minnesota Governor and the deceased American Sniper has finally settled. Following the publication of Chris Kyle’s autobiography, in 2012, Jesse Ventura filed a lawsuit against Kyle. Even after Kyle’s unfortunate passing in 2013, Ventura continued his legal pursuit against Kyle’s estate. Fake Meth Leaves Orlando Man in a Crumby Situation
The misconception that an individual is a criminal if accused of a crime comes at a cost to those who never even committed the crime. In late 2015, Orlando resident, Daniel Rushing, was pulled over for speeding and failing to make a complete stop. While he was guilty of violating these traffic laws, he was wrongfully accused of a more severe offense. As a result of a drastic misunderstanding, Rushing was awarded $37,500 in a lawsuit against the city of Orlando.
Los Angeles Streets Have Reached Their Life Cycle
A recent update to the city’s budget allows Los Angeles to dedicate $15 million to pay out settlements involving bicycle accidents that result from unsafe roads. Earlier this month, about $6.5 million of the budget was awarded to Peter Godefroy and his wife Patty. In 2015, Peter was riding his bicycle on Valley Vista Boulevard in the neighborhood of Sherman Oaks in Los Angeles when he hit what he described as a “concealed trap” in the road. The pothole sent Peter flying from his bicycle, resulting in several broken bones and a traumatic brain injury. Some of his injuries are permanent. Read more
United Airlines Notoriety Grows
United Airlines is back in the news with yet another scandal of misconduct. This past Spring, several passengers came forward regarding the mistreatment they received while flying with United Airlines. The notoriety creeped into the Summer, with a complaint from a teenager, claiming she was sexually assaulted on a red eye flight, going from Seattle, Washington to Newark, New Jersey. During the course of her flight, the teenager, only 16 years old, was unaccompanied by a parent or family member. The man seated next to her, who was identified as an immigrant doctor here in the US on a fellowship program, allegedly assaulted the teenager while she slept. Read more
