Former NFL Players Rush to Meet Class Action Deadline

Former NFL football players who have suffered from neurological damage and head injuries foresee an approaching resolution to the six-year-long legal battle against the NFL. This fight initiated in 2011 and settled in 2013; however, it was determined that the $765 million settlement was not enough money to cover the cost of compensation for the 20,000 former NFL players involved in the lawsuit. In 2015, after extensive negotiations, a federal judge removed the limit of $765 million to leave room for a potentially higher payout. The family members of those whom have since passed away as a result of chronic head damage may also benefit from this lawsuit. Read more

Lawsuits Spread Awareness of Life-Threatening Implants

The US Food and Drug Commission regulates products based on safety and health caution.  Various recalled products may include food, cosmetics, automotive devices, among others. One of the more recent concerns documented by the FDA is the effect textured implants have on women. Those whom have had to undergo breast cancer treatment and elected to receive reconstructive surgery, for implants with a textured surface, have suffered from prolonged complications. A life-threatening effect is anaplastic large-cell lymphoma, which is a rare form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. While the FDA recognized a correlation between the textured implants and lymphoma in 2011, the implants were not recalled. Read more

Michigan-based Ford Motor Company has been the subject of scrutiny and remains the popular defendant in more than a hundred lawsuits concerning the safety of the 2011-2016 Ford Fiesta and 2012-2016 Ford Focus. For the past six years, Fiesta and Focus owners grew concerned with consistent instances of jerking car movements and grinding noises. Some even lost power and control of their vehicles.
