A Spicy Lawsuit

Fiery smell

Imagine having a backyard party planned and on the day of the festivities you are forced to bring the party inside due to something in the air that is causing all different types of discomfort for you and your guest? Well that is what happened to one family in Irwindale, CA who were celebrating a birthday party and they were migrated involuntarily indoors due to a strong smell that overwhelmed them. This smell was due to the air from Sriracha hot sauce factory which is supposedly contaminating  the air in and around Southern California. The city of Irwindale filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court asking a judge to stop production at the Huy Fong Foods factory. The city is alleging the chili odor originating from the plant is a public nuisance. Continue reading

Dead End Taxi

Imagine waiting for someone you love dearly to arrive and when they do, you open the door to the taxi and they are dead. Sounds terrible, right? Well, that is was happened to a mother from North Carolina, Deborah Washington, who found her son A’Darrin Washington, “unresponsive and cold to the touch,” when he arrived home in a taxi.  A’Darrin Washington was discharged from Cumberland County Hospital and died on Nov. 22, 2011 at the age of 30 and was a patient of the hospital for 10 years. Ms. Washington is suing the security firm whose guards are accused of forcibly removing her son from a hospital even though he was allegedly dying or possibly already dead. Read More

Off the Runway: Fashion Fury and a New Suit

Project Runway, the hit television series, has its very own Veruca Salt. Winner Irina Shabayeva, nicknamed “Mean-a Irina” on Season 6 of Project Runway, left over 300 guests waiting for her collection to come down the runway during Fashion Week. Ms. Shabayeva is being sued for breach of contract, where the company is seeking compensation and damages for the “breach of good faith,” as well as costs, interest and attorney fees. Facebook Faces Lawsuit Over Faces

Do you have a Facebook? If so, you might have been used for an ad and not have known it. If your Facebook account had a Facebook Sponsored Story, which featured your name or profile picture, you may be a member in a class action lawsuit. These Sponsored Stories are a form of advertising that typically contained posts, which would appear on Facebook.  These ads were from different businesses, organizations, or individuals who have paid to promote on Facebook, so there is a better chance that the posts will be seen.  Basically, the lawsuit alleges Facebook used users’ names and likenesses to sell/advertise products without the users’ consent. Rapper Turns Red Over Instagram Lawsuit

Everyone knows the saying “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” but in this day age words and statements are not to be taken lightly and can cause a lot of damage. While social media gives celebrities the ability to speak their minds to their fans, there have been plenty of public figures that have eaten their written words when they have not been cautious about while posting about others. In a recent incident, hip-hop superstar Jayceon Taylor, better known as The Game, has recently came out with a slanderous statement about his previous babysitter, Karen Monroe, on Instagram and Twitter. This resulted in a lawsuit from Ms. Monroe, who states The Game hurt her reputation. Read More
