A large shock recently affected the entire landscape of intelligence within the United States of America. On Friday, November 9th, David Petraeus, resigned from his position as the director of the CIA. This came as a big surprise to everyone involved, including; friends, family, co-workers, and President Barack Obama. The resignation marked an extremely abrupt end to an extremely successful career in public service. Petraeus resigned from his position in the CIA based on personal infidelity to his beloved wife.
He offered this comment to the people, “After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as our…”
Although he made a mistake, Petraeus is still a shining example of what it means to be a good human being. He made a very large mistake, one that he will forever regret. But in the mess he created he has taken full responsibility for this mistake. He had a very distinguished 37-year military career before even joining the CIA. He is a 4 star general and has worked for decades to better the United States of America. His lasting presence on US Intelligence will forever be valued, and will never be forgotten. All men have opportunities to make mistakes on a daily basis, Petraeus deserves to be respected for taking full responsibility, and handling his mistake like a gentleman.
