We Are Not Liable
As college football enters its second month of the 2021 season, Penn State University fans may celebrate a new kind of win. A Chief US District court judge has granted a motion in favor of dismissing Coach James Franklin and Penn State University from a hazing and retaliation lawsuit that was filed in January 2020. Under the initial claim, former player, Isaiah Humphries, alleges that four football players hazed him as a way of initiating him to the team. Following a body sculpting, fat-freezing cosmetic procedure, Linda Evangelista has filed a lawsuit against Zeltiq Aesthetics Inc., citing loss of work, emotional distress, and inability to engage in public appearances or promotions. Evangelista, a supermodel who rose to fame in the 1990’s, is seeking $50 million in compensation and has filed her claim in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Chemical Bath Causes Injuries
Following a July 17 chemically infused incident at the Houston-area Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashdown, a mother of three daughters filed a lawsuit. Since the filing, more than 200 individuals have joined the legal dispute, citing similar complaints. While enjoying their day at the Six Flags waterpark, Amanda Regulus and her three daughters each suffered from headaches, skin pains, and sore throats. The symptoms of chemical exposure were not temporary, as the mother and children are still receiving medical aid and attention for their injuries. According to court documents, the chemicals, which included hypochlorite and sulfuric acid, spilled into the waterpark. Continue reading
Compensation for a Community
As rescue and emergency workers continue to search for survivors in the rubble of the pancaked Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Florida, the building’s condo association has received notice of a $5 million class action lawsuit related to the collapse. Filed by Brad Sohn Law Firm, the claim alleges that the condo association failed to address pertinent safety measures and neglected to act quickly to repair the structural issues that were previously identified. The lawsuit also focuses on the probability that if the condo association maintained ordinary care of the building, then the loss of life and property might have been prevented. Continue reading
