A True Blind Side

Unable to see the reality

Although Sandra Bullock’s Oscar-winning portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy in the movie The Blind Side was inspirational and heartfelt, the real-life version of her character is now depicted in a lawsuit as deceitful and untrustworthy.  The storyline of the 2009 movie focuses on a Tennessee family’s encouragement and support of a young man who did not benefit from familial stability but did possess strong athletic talents.  Backed by the Tuohy family, the real Michael Oher succeeded as an All-American at Ole Miss and was drafted into the NFL, in which he played for eight seasons.

Pumped for a Settlement

Costly accusations

The accusations against film producer, Randall Emmett, are not only damaging but are also potentially costly.  With the recent season 10 premiere of reality show, Vanderpump Rules, the gravity of numerous allegations presented against Emmett has resurfaced.  In this first episode, Lala Kent, the former fiancé of the defendant, who also serves as one of the show’s frontrunners, recounts an LA Times article from mid-2022 that chronicles a list of lawsuits against her ex.  The various claims include trading sexual favors for acting roles, engaging in illegal drug sales, and attempting to cover up his actions through non-disclosure agreements and settlements. Defamation Heard in Court

Suing exes

Following a 2018 opinion piece, which was published as an op-ed in the Washington Post, Johnny Depp has filed a defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. Within the past week, Depp has taken the stand in a Fairfax County, Virginia court to recount his past relationship with Heard and to defend his character. His ex-wife, to whom he was married from 2015 to 2016, has reportedly smeared Depp’s name, alleging domestic abuse during the course of their relatively short marriage. In response to this supposed defamation, Depp is asking for $50 million. Continue reading

Jones Tackles Paternity Claim

Seeking fortune?

Everything is bigger in Texas, including the lawsuits. Jerry Jones, the owner, president, and general manager of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, is tasked with playing defense. A 25-year-old woman, Alexandra Davis, has filed a lawsuit against him, claiming that she is Jones’s daughter and is asking a court of law to determine the legitimacy of an agreement made in 1998. The nature of the lawsuit concerns Davis’s promise to not speak publicly of the alleged paternity matter. In order to solidify that agreement, both Davis and her mother received money from Jones. The first space crime

Initiated in November 1998, the International Space Station is a monumental project, and has served as living quarters to astronauts since the year 2000. Among the valuable scientific research that takes place on the Space Station, it is also home to the first space crime.  Anne McClain has recently gained infamy for allegedly tapping into her estranged spouse’s bank account while onboard the Space Station.  While no money was stolen from the account, McClain’s spouse, Summer Worden, learned of the invasion of privacy when McClain communicated with Worden about her spending habits.  An investigation is currently underway.
