That’s the Ticket

Is it worth the price?

Following a Taylor Swift ticket sale meltdown in November, certain legislators are turning their focus to concert ticket competition.  Specifically, they are considering the statistic that 70% of tickets sold for concert venues in the United States are distributed through Ticketmaster, an exclusively online company that merged with the comparable service Live Nation in 2010.  Legislators argue that the company maintains a strong monopoly of the ticket sale market, making it difficult for consumers to evaluate additional competitive offers or options.  As a business that reaches at least 30 countries, Ticketmaster processes 500 million ticket sale transactions each year.  Continue reading

Inc.  In addition to damages, Marquez is also requesting a jury trial and injunction relief.     Continue reading

A recent lawsuit filed against the University of Southern California (USC) and 2U, Inc., a publicly traded company, alleges that the institution of higher education provided limited information and statistics to U.S. News & World Report. In order to draw in prospective students to online programs, USC presented favorable rankings, which were only accurate for one in-person program. According to the lawsuit, USC has established a history of supplying misleading information to U.S. News & World Report and allegedly withheld data that might have influenced a lesser rank. USC is placing blame on the dean of the Rossier School of Education. Continue reading

Crypto endorsement

Tom Brady cannot avoid the limelight, as his family troubles and conduct on the field have developed into some of the juiciest topics for the press in recent weeks. While the news of Tom Brady’s divorce may not be a shock to most fans, his involvement in the FTX bankruptcy may prove to be less well known. Due to Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen’s prior support of FTX, the NFL star’s attachment to his ex-wife now extends beyond the custody arrangement of their two children. An FTX investor has filed a lawsuit against the company founder, naming individual celebrities that have endorsed the cryptocurrency business. Continue reading
