Wen Hair Products has become tangled in a class-action lawsuit this month, after many of their products were associated with causing users to lose mass quantities of their hair. Wen is endorsed by celebrities Alyssa Milano and Brooke Shields, whom were able to hold onto their luscious lox, but Wen has a serious issue on hand. With more than 200 people from 40 different states being represented in this suit, it seems like an uphill battle for Wen and Chaz Dean.
Chaz Dean is the Los Angeles based hairstylist whom invented the Wen line, and its all-natural ingredients. The Wen hair care line claims to omit harsh chemicals and sulfates, leading to it’s “all natural” label. There is now independent research labs that are breaking down the components of the line, to decipher who’s bubble to burst in this suit.
Wen and their legal team are taking a firm stance in the matter, stating;
“We take great pride in the quality of our products and believe every product meets our high standards. … Importantly, there is no scientific evidence to support any claim that our hair care products caused anyone to lose their hair. There are many reasons why individuals may lose their hair, all unrelated to WEN hair products. We intend to vigorously contest the allegations made against our products. And, we encourage any customer with any questions to contact us.”
In addition to the hair loss, Wen is also being accused of allowing the issue to expand by not allowing the public to have the proper information relayed. There are multiple accusations of Wen deleting customer complaints and poor rating from their corporate Facebook page, which is never a good sign from a consumer’s viewpoint. The case is now headed to mediation, and will presumably last into 2017.
