Televised struggles

Less than two years following the June 2022 final airing of The Wendy Williams Show, news broke of the former talk show host’s frontotemporal dementia and aphasia diagnosis.  The 59-year-old entered an agreement with Lifetime to produce a documentary, which would follow Williams’ life in transition from television to a new podcast.  During the year and a half that cameras followed her and conducted interviews with her family members, however, the focus of the documentary shifted to that of her health and the apparent growing concern about the level of adequate care that she was receiving.

A True Blind Side

Unable to see the reality

Although Sandra Bullock’s Oscar-winning portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy in the movie The Blind Side was inspirational and heartfelt, the real-life version of her character is now depicted in a lawsuit as deceitful and untrustworthy.  The storyline of the 2009 movie focuses on a Tennessee family’s encouragement and support of a young man who did not benefit from familial stability but did possess strong athletic talents.  Backed by the Tuohy family, the real Michael Oher succeeded as an All-American at Ole Miss and was drafted into the NFL, in which he played for eight seasons.

Hit Me With a Lawsuit

Spears strikes back

Jamie Spears is striking back at blogger and “Absolute Britney” website developer, Anthony Elia.  In a lawsuit filed recently, Jamie Spears, who has served as Britney Spears’ conservator since 2008, alleges Elia inflicted malicious intent to defame him. In Elia’s blog, he concocts conspiracy theories about Jamie’s apparent power over Britney.  Two theories include Jamie’s misrepresentation of Britney on her social media accounts to make her appear crazy, and not allowing Britney to regain control over her own life.  The blog has evolved into a “Free Britney” campaign, attracting many followers.
