id=\"caption-attachment-9346\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Not your average delivery<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It comes as no surprise that delivering pizza can be a dangerous job.\u00a0 A college kid walking around an unfamiliar neighborhood in the middle of the night with a pocket full of\u00a0cash and a hot pizza in his hand\u00a0can be\u00a0a tantalizing target.\u00a0 Sam Swicegood, a former Pizza Hut delivery man knew just\u00a0how dangerous his job could potentially be.\u00a0 <a title=\"Sam Swicegood, Pizza Hut Delivery Man, Allegedly Demoted For Defending Himself Against Attackers\" href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2012\/12\/31\/sam-swicegood-pizza-hut-delivery-man_n_2387915.html?utm_hp_ref=food&amp;ir=Food\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sam was attacked one night by five teenagers while trying to deliver a pizza.\u00a0 But after being sucker-punched, the prepared delivery man whipped out\u00a0a tent pole from his sleeve and frantically swung at his\u00a0attackers defending both himself and the pizza<\/a>.\u00a0 His act of self-defense proved effective when the teenagers\u00a0fled from\u00a0the pipe wielding delivery man.<\/p>\n<p><!--more Read more--><\/p>\n<p>Even though Sam was successful in protecting his personal well being he was not so fortunate in protecting his future at Pizza Hut.\u00a0 Sam reported to Fox 45 that he was demoted from delivery-man to cook,\u00a0and that\u00a0his pay and hours were reduced\u00a0due to his explicit violation of Pizza Hut&#8217;s no weapons policy.\u00a0 According to the company, defending yourself with a personal weapon is prohibited in any circumstance.\u00a0 Sam was flabbergasted by the actions of his employers.\u00a0 He felt that he had no choice but to defend himself with any amount of force necessary.\u00a0 Sam told Fox News Insider, &#8220;five people against one is not a good situation to be in.\u00a0 I thought I was about to die&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>While death may have been an unrealistic outcome, I agree that five against one is not a good situation to be in.\u00a0 When the numbers are that\u00a0one sided\u00a0I believe that force with a weapon may have been the only option Sam was left with.\u00a0 Sam is\u00a0still currently\u00a0a Pizza Hut employee and the organization claims to be handling the situation internally.\u00a0 Pizza Hut denies the allegations that Sam has been demoted and claim that neither his hours\u00a0nor his\u00a0pay have been cut.\u00a0 One can only hope that everything will work out for Sam Swicegood or we may all be faced with
