JUUL May Not Be a Polished Alternative

In the midst of lawmakers pushing for a ban on e-cigarettes, a student, Maxwell Berger, has filed a lawsuit against JUUL Lab, Inc.  The 22-year-old suffered a stroke in July 2017, and says the cause was related to his frequent e-cigarette use.  Initially attracted to JUUL’s different products and flavors, Berger started smoking in 2015 at the age of 18.  Only a high school senior at the time, Berger was unaware of any potential side effects related to JUUL products.  It is difficult to believe that a sleek, easy-to-use pen with a variety of tasteful flavors could ever cause a stroke in a young person.  The lawsuit points the finger at JUUL’s misleading marketing tactics that lure young smokers into using their e-cigarettes.  Continue reading →

All Animals Deserve a Fairlife

Despite the claim that Fairlife milk is derived from cows that receive the utmost care, video evidence proves the cows are cruelly mistreated by farm hands. One consumer filed a lawsuit against Fair Oaks Farms and Fairlife, alleging fraud and deceptive marketing of their product.  The lawsuit has gained federal class-action status and was filed on June 11.  In addition to Fair Oaks Farms, Fairlife works with about 30 other suppliers, and intends to audit each before the middle of July.  Regardless of the claim in the lawsuit, Fairlife still promotes their company as one that is “committed to the humane and compassionate care of animals.”  Continue reading →

A Laced Latte in Lethbridge, Canada

Accidents can happen anywhere, even in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, where one 32-week pregnant woman purchased a laced latte at McDonald’s in August 2018.  Sarah Douglas allowed it to cool before taking a sip.  She detected a strange taste to the latte and is now considering filing a lawsuit against McDonald’s for what was later discovered floating around in her beverage.  Available in Small, Medium, and Large, McDonald’s advertises their 140 calorie lattes as a “treat” customized with “steamed whole or nonfat milk” with “your favorite flavor, including a rich vanilla latte, a toasty caramel latte, or a sweet, earthy hazelnut latte.”  In this case, Sarah Douglas purchased a latte steamed with a chemical flavor. Veterans Battle Against Earplug Company

If you are a veteran who wore 3M Combat Arms earplugs from 2003 to 2015, then you may be entitled to receive compensation for this defective product. According to lawsuits filed by hundreds of military vets, the earplugs were not manufactured properly to prevent harmful sounds from entering their ears. As a result, veterans are now suffering from tinnitus, hearing loss, and balance issues. 3M failed to disclose any defects associated with the dual-sided earplugs. In an attempt to overcome the accusation against the company, 3M offered to settle a lawsuit filed by the US government for $9.1 million in July 2018. This payout did not prove 3M’s guilt or responsibility, but rather served as a remedy for the allegation against the company for making false claims about the use of the product. Infant Deaths Linked to Fisher-Price Product

Since 1930, Fisher-Price has produced baby toys, gear, and accessories.  Almost every kid played with the Retro Chatter Phone, ate their lunch in a Healthy Care Booster Seat, and lounged in a Deluxe Bouncer.  Recently, this household American name has been tainted with a class action lawsuit concerning the Rock ‘n Play Sleeper. This Fisher-Price product is allegedly responsible for over 30 infant deaths. On April 12, two weeks before the class action lawsuit was filed in Buffalo, NY, Fisher-Price issued a recall of 4.7 million Rock ‘n Play Sleepers. Continue reading →
