5-Hour Energy Takes A Crash

Dose of energy

According to the Huffington Post, three states are suing 5-Hour Energy for misleading advertising. Oregon, Washington, and Vermont are leading the charge and say more states will be filing suits in the coming weeks. All three states are seeking a permanent injunction preventing 5-Hour Energy’s misleading marketing practices, as well as restitution to the consumers who consumed the energy drink in those states.

Wind-Energy Companies Can Legally Kill Or Injure Eagles

A conservation group is suing the Obama Administration. A federal rule is giving permission to wind-energy companies to injure or kill eagles for the next 30 years. According to the Huffington Post, the lawsuit was supposed to be filed on Thursday, June 19th in San Jose, California. The American Bird Conservancy, the suing party, claims the rule is illegal because the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service failed to evaluate whether this rule would harm eagle populations. The Obama Administration considers this rule to be an “administrative change” which bypasses a full environmental review.

Another Lawsuit Lands On The NFL’s Desk

NFL “Tackled” By Another Lawsuit

On May 20, 2014, more than 600 former NFL players filed a lawsuit against the NFL, according to the Associated Press. The players stated they were abetted by team trainers and physicians to often take illegal narcotics and pain killers. They would do this on game days so they would make the pain they were going through. Among the painkillers were Percodan, Percocet, and Vicodin, and sleep aides such as Ambien. The lead attorney, Steven Silverman, states these drugs were “handed out like candy on Halloween.”

The FBI Being Sued Over An Ultimatum

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is being accused of giving an ultimatum to four Muslim Americans. According to the Huffington Post, the FBI wanted these four Muslim Americans to become informants for the FBI. However, when these men denied the FBI’s request, they consequently added their names to the United State’s “no fly list”. The “no fly list” prevents any person from boarding a plane starting from, ending, or passing over the country.

Three of the plaintiffs, Muhammad Tanvir, Jameel Algibhah, Naveed Shinwari, claim they were added to the “no fly list” after refusing, for religious reasons, to serve as FBI informants. The fourth plaintiff, Awais Sajjad, said he was put on the list, and was “subjected to extensive interrogation”.

Man Who Kills 7 Awarded $451,000

So why is a man who killed seven people being awarded $451,000 in a civil matter? We will get to that in a second but first, who is this person? According to the Huffington Post, a former handyman, James Degorski, is serving a life sentence for the 1993 murder of seven people at a suburban Chicago restaurant Brown’s Chicken and Pasta. Degorski and an accomplice manage to leave the scene with less than $2,000. The accomplice was also sentenced to a life sentence.
