Kid Skips Prison For Church Sentence

Also given the option for church, he took the latter.

Uh, what the???  Judge Mike Norman, from Muskogee, Oklahoma has decided on a different approach to sentencing criminals that come in his courtroom.  Tyler Alred, 17, has taken a 10-year church sentence instead of prison for killing his friend and passenger, John Dum when he got in to an accident drunk driving.  Included in his 10-year church sentence, he is also to graduate from high school and take alcohol and drug tests in order to defer this prison sentence.  Dum’s family was actually happy to hear about this church sentence, since they believe that Tyler’s life should not be wasted in jail.

Napoli Bern Ripka Shkolnik, LLP, a New York-based law firm settled claims for more than 10,000 first responders in the 9/11 tragedy and is now representing nine victims in the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting. The survivors are alleging negligence and a lack of sufficient security on behalf of Cinemark and the Century 16 Theater where the event occurred.  Though it is the seventh lawsuit filed regarding the horrific July 20 events, it is unique in that its the first to specifically name employees.  These employees include the owner, general manager, and manager of the theater.  The nine victims are seeking millions of dollars in damages. Terror Alert in Phoenix! Code: Baby Blue

Mock Terrorism? Who knows anymore.

 Mock Terrorism.  It sounds dumber when spoken than it does written here.  But I kid you not, this is something our country needs to look out for.  Michael Turley from Phoenix, Arizona, decided to make terrorism watch his job after the shooting at the Auora, Colorado movie theater. The 39 year old cinematographer and photographer filmed a short video with his 16 year old nephew to “test” the Phoenix police.  He first dressed his nephew in a blue sheet made to look like a toga.  Put a ski mask on him and armed him with a fake grenade/rocket launcher.  They then, paraded around the busiest streets in Phoneix pointing their weapon at citizens passing by.  The point was to stir up some emotions in the people walking by and to time how long it would take for Phoenix police to come to the scene.  Passersby called police to inform them of the situation even though they assumed it was a joke and were not really threatened.  When asked what they were doing with a fake grenade/rocket launcher they said they were making a movie.  Um?

73 Year Old Woman Raped in Central Park

I mean, Central Park was never safe after dark but now the danger has creeped up in the middle of the day.  A 73 year old woman birdwatching off a path near Strawberry Fields was raped and robbed of her camera.  The sick part about it is that this was not the first encounter that she had with this gentleman.  Earlier in the week she spotted him in Central Park exposing himself.  She took a picture to show authorities and would not delete it after he told her to.  In retaliation to the photo bomb he found the 73 year old woman again in the park birdwatching.  The rapist asked an alarming question, “Do you remember me?” before proceeding to beat and sexually assault the woman.  Eric Ozawa found the woman and called the police after she informed him she had been raped.  The man that sexually assaulted the woman was identified as in his 40’s, white, with a Russian or Ukrainian accent.

The Sweet Taste of Freedom… And Revenge

On August 20th a St. Louis teen tasted freedom for the first time in 3 long years.  She has allegedly been held captive in the Belleville, Illinois home of Steven Johnson since April 2009.  The teen has told investigators that while trapped in Johnson’s house she endured daily beatings and sexual assaults which led to her becoming pregnant with Johnson’s child.  The teen also claimed that she was forced at gunpoint by Johnson to stay in the house.  A SWAT team invaded the house and arrested Johnson and his mother.  While rading the house, the SWAT team found a gun as well as large amounts of Marijuana and Cocaine.  Steven Johnson has been charged with a felony count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, illegal possession of a deadly weapon, possession of drugs with intent to distribute, and promotion of prostitution.
