Happiest Place On Earth Facing Lawsuit

Not so happy

The wonderful World of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has been confronted with a lawsuit by numerous families of children with developmental disorders and could potentially be facing more unhappy parents. The lawsuit alleges that the families of children with development disorders have experienced suffering and the company has violated the American With Disabilities Act. Disney denied these allegations when the complaint was originally brought to their attention. The initial complaint had up to 57 grievances and is now looking at tripling the accusations against the power house. Read More

Just days before the commencement of the 2014 World Cup, FIFA was served suit by the Brazil’s Athletes Federation. The Brazil’s Athletes Federation was looking to have the schedule of the games modified, particularly the start times and the mandatory “cooling breaks”. The intended schedule of the 24 matches beginning at 1pm Brazil time were the main complaint of the Brazil’s Athletes Federation. The federation believes all games should begin no earlier than 4pm. This time change causes major issues with worldwide broadcasting due to the time zone differences around the world. Read More

After a 14 year legal battle, Feld Entertainment Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus reached a settlement collecting $15.75 million from the Humane Society of the United States and multiple other animal rights groups. The long running litigation suit was based on allegations that Ringling Circus was mistreating elephants. The extraordinary legal case evolved into a costly embarrassment for some of the nation’s leading animal rights organizations. Read More

Age Discrimination Lawsuit

In this day and age, it is out with the old and in with the new. Who doesn’t want the newest iPad or HD TV? But, should the same logic apply when companies attempt to get rid of an older employee? How about when that employee is fulfilling his/her job expectations? In what has been suggested as the largest award in Los Angeles legal history, Bobby Nickel, age 66, was awarded $26 million by a jury that found he was discriminated against and harassed based on his age by his supervising managers at Staples. Bobby Nickel was hired by Corporate Express in 2002 as a facilities manager. In 2008, Corporate Express was acquired by Staples Contract and Staples Inc and Bobby Nickel lost his job in 2011, age 64. Tragedy In Paradise

Imagine being on a beautiful vacation in Hawaii and come to find there was a tragic accident in this beautiful oasis. For the Madoff family that is exactly what happened. Tyler Madoff, a 15-year-old boy was swept out to sea during a Hawaii hiking and kayaking tour. A wrongful death lawsuit was filed and has finally been settled.
